Two updates in two days - GASP!

Hehe. Well day one is done, and while I sit here typing this and sipping my tea, we are under way! I most likely will not be updating this journal on a daily basis, most like it will be weekly, but day 1 is important =)

So how did I find it? I was a little peckish now and again I'll be honest, but I know it's probably because I'm used to eating more than I need to. If I'm still feeling this peckish feeling after a couple of days I will adjust things to suit. I don't agree with making yourself hungry to lose weight. It's not healthy and besides, it doesn't work! It's been shown that if you starve yourself your body's natural reaction is to hold onto anything it has stored because it is preparing for a longer stretch without food. Then, when you do eat again, your body immediately holds on to what you eat because it still thinks there's a risk of no food coming. The moral of that? Don't starve yourself! =)

They say you should have little and often, rather than a lot rarely. So I had something usually within four hours of my last meal/snack. Drinking tea or water helped to curb the peckish feeling most of the time between food, except when it was coming close to dinner time. Think my stomach knew food was on the way hehe.

So, any interest on what today's food actually was? Little note, I do love chicken so that's probably going to be the meat I have most of the time hehehe. Also, for week one at least, my meals probably won't change much. Reason? I'm a little lazy when it comes to trying new things, but when I have got one meal working I will try more =) Going to test different ones during weekends when I have more time to prepare.

Breakfast: Müllerlight yogurt, a small banana and green tea.
Mid-morning snack: 12 seedless grapes
Lunch: 1 cooked chicken breast, lots of mixed salad, 1 tablespoon of Hellman's lighter than light mayonnaise and green tea
Mid-afternoon snack: 1 small apple
Dinner: 1 chicken breast seasoned with black pepper, couscous, raw carrot, 2 teaspoons of Uncle Ben's Thai Sweet Chilli sauce, 1 cup of tea with semi-skimmed milk.
Other: Another cup of tea with semi-skimmed milk.

What can I say? I love my tea hehehe. The reason the carrot I had was raw was because I prefer them like that, nice and crunchy =) Oh and I cook my chicken by putting it into tin foil with a small bit of water and putting it in the oven for 20-30 mins (depends on how big the piece of chicken is). The dinner only took half an hour to make, with the chicken taking the longest. It's not hard and doesn't take long, so it can fit into anyone's time table =)

I think I've rambled long enough haven't I? I always get carried away typing these things =) I'll leave you with my stats for today, but I will point out that the difference in my weight from yesterday is mainly due to the fact I weighed myself in the morning today, while it was night time yesterday. Your weight can be different by 1-2 lbs daily anyway, so it's not like one day has made a 1.4 lbs change already hehehe. Ahh if only =) Anyways, going to stick with morning times from now on since I'll be up for work so will be around the same time =)

Talk soon everyone!

Greetings to those of you reading this :)

In the 5 and a half years I have been here on livejournal I've only managed to publish 19 journals. That's a bit pitiful isn't it? XD Anyway, because I've rarely used LJ to document anything, I've decided to make it my new base for my own personal get-fit goal :) The main reason for keeping a journal about this would be to keep track of things for myself and make me keep on top of it.

Reason Behind Starting This Goal
While I'm not obese I'm not exactly the healthiest either. I'm comfortable with who I am, but I would like to get fitter for health reasons and the first step of that for me is managing my weight and getting to a healthier level.

How
I'm going to follow a diet my sister tried last year, and it worked well for her. It is not one of these starvation diets, or one of these ones where you eat nothing but one thing. This is the book I will be using for the meals: Rosemary Conley's Amazing Inch Loss Plan: Lose a Stone in a Month. Now I understand a stone in a month is a very large amount of weight, and while that would be wonderful it probably wouldn't stick without very close monitoring. So if I don't lose a stone in a month, I'm not going to be worried, as long as I'm heading in the right direction :)

So yeah, that's about it for now! Tomorrow is day 1, and here's to a healthier lifestyle!

Current Stats
Height: 5 foot 4 inches
Weight: 149lbs / 10st 9lbs
BMI: 25.6

Goal
Weight: 136lbs / 9st 10lbs
BMI: 23.3

Hey everyone. Took me long enough to get this journal updated haha xDD
Righto, so here are all the doujinshi I have up for grabs. If you are interested in any of them, leave a comment :) Price-wise I was thinking about 15-20 euro (20-25 US dollars) for a doujinshi (not including shipping) but it also depends on the doujinshi. Some would be cheaper, some more =)

All of the doujinshi are in great condition. I would rather keep them but funding is more important at the moment ^^'

Let me know and I'll get back to you asap ^^ Oh and I'll only be able to accept paypal. Thanks everyone!

Greetings darlings!

Been almost a year again since I updated this (if I waited a few more days it would be 12 months hehe), and I feel like I should post a new entry... Not sure why... Well okay I lie, I'm doing this so I can avoid study for a few more minutes ha.

Well to sum up my life for the last 12 months, I finished my undergraduate degree and had my graduation. I don't usually talk about my results, but even for me I'm proud of myself to say I finished my degree with a first class honours each of the four years. So yeah, all well and good!

You think I would have had enough of study right? Well, I'm a glutton for punishment it seems, and I went on to do a masters in Interactive Media. It's a 12 month masters, with lectures from the end of September until the end of March. We get April off to study (we don't get mid-terms and that makes it so we can get April off) and then we start our exams in May (first one is tomorrow, ahhhhh!). Then after the exams, we've got to work on a project for the summer and hand it up around the end of September. And then we're done!

It's been a busy year. We have 12 different modules, and we're getting an exam in all of these. The following is a quick overlook at what my exam timetable looks like;
04 May - Authoring
05 May - Audio Processing
06 May - Digital Publishing & Hypermedia Systems
07 May - Digital Video Compression & Delivery
10 May - Graphics and Graphic Design
12 May - Audio and Sound Engineering
14 May - Digital Video Capture and Packaging
17 May - Future & Emerging Interaction Technologies
19 May - 3D Graphics and Modelling
21 May - Internet-based Applications
24 May - Human Computer Interaction
26 May - Mobile Multimedia

Oh boy, it's going to be a busy month ha. I know it'll fly once they start, but the last few days I've lapsed into my usual pre-exam mode of "OH MY GOD I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH!!!", when in reality I know I know enough to pass at the very least. I push myself a lot though and expect a lot of myself, so I'm probably putting undue pressure on myself ha. Thanks to my mom and sister though, I've found a cure for these feelings of anxiety, and it comes in the form of a small bottle called "Rescue Remedy"! It's a little herb thing you spray into your mouth and it helps quell anxiety :) Sounds dodgy huh? Hehe. I promise though, it's not drugs. *Checks ingredients* Mostly flowers actually.

I'm also on a tonic thing packed full of vitamins under the orders of my mom. It's probably a good idea, I don't tend to eat very well during exams ^^' Plus I was sick last week and I think I flushed everything out of my system haha. Well one good thing can be said for being sick, best detox my body has got in a loooong time hehe. Next time though, I'll stick to drinking water to detox :)

Time for non-university related things!

The rest of my summer outside of doing the project will be spent getting ready for Amecon 2010!!! Yes, I'm off on a good ol' Amecon weekend away again this August and I can't wait! There's a very large gang of us going in comparison to what it has been before haha. When myself and my sister, ryoura , went to our first convention in 2006 (Amecon) it was just the two of us. We met some fun people there, and when we went the next year we got to meet up with some of those great people again :) I didn't get to go to a convention in 2008, but 2009 was Ayacon! (AKA: Aya Revolution). Here I got to meet with some of the best people I know! There were a lot of great people there, but the highlight of the weekend was getting to meet yuki_kiba_chan , Mistrix, and Shadow-Clone (not sure if you want your real names said or not and not sure if you all have LJs ^^'). Love you lots and lots guys! Can't wait to meet again at this year's Ame!
There are a few people from the boards that I can't wait to meet up with :) Specifically the Pandora Hearts cosplayers <3 There will be lots of crazy and random in that group I think hehe. Roll on August!

In addition to going to Amecon, I'm really spoiling myself and going to London Expo in October too! Two conventions in one year? CRAZY! Hehe. Well I'll be finished my masters at that point, and I want to do some fun stuff. Plus, I get to meet Yuki and Mistrix again!!! :D Me? Excited? That's an understatement! :D

Hm I think that should do it for now. It's almost half one the day before my first exam. I do believe I should be studying, yes yes? XD

Righto! Who knows how long it will be before I update this again haha. Until next time, take care everyone!

Only a few more days before I hit the road back home in good ol' Ireland! Right now I'm sitting in work with nothing to do as it's my second last day. They took myself and the guy I work with (he's in my class in college, we're on the same internship) out to lunch today was was really nice ^^ Uno Grill has nice chicken! I do have a couple of meetings left today, one for half an hour and the other for two hours. The two hour one is going to be boring I'd say, hehe. I usually just sit there and daydream away while trying to hide my yawns XD I don't know the systems so yeah, I'm there to keep a seat warm basically, hehe.

We got the car sorted :) The dealer said he'd buy it back from us no problem. He's so nice! I mean, I was thinking that he doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would sell on a dangerous car. I think his mechanic is just rubbish XD So yeah that's sorted.

Hmm what else... Wish my roommate would stop calling me a freak, it's only funny for a little while, but not after like 50+ times. I'm not a freak! :(

I don't think anybody reads this anyway do they? Hehe, just doing this more to pass some time. Hey, if anybody does read this, leave a comment to say hi or something :)

Until next time!

 Hey everyone :)

Random update because I'm bored at work, hehe. Two updates in one week! *SHOCK* Not that anybody even reads this, hehe.

Okies so here's the story behind this update. We bought a car around four months ago (We being myself and the girl I'm living with for the 6 months I'm in the USA) and seeing as it's coming close to the time we'll be shipping ourselves back home (19 days!) we started posting ads for the sale of the car (who I've named Johnny, hehe). We got some people interested so that's a good start!

So one guy (called Rodan) took the car to his mechanic today to get it checked out to see if it was in good enough condition. As far as we knew it was; the guy we bought it from had his mechanic check it out and it passed the safety inspection. However, Rodan came back and told my friend that that car shouldn't even be on the road and should never have passed the safety inspection. The undercarriage is nothing but rust, the break is ready to, well, break, and the connections holding the left wheel to the car are barely hanging in there. AKA, it could fall off if we go over a bump!

Yeah... Great... So now nobody is going to buy it from us. The guy we got it from said he would buy it back from us, but before we even got the key he knocked the price he'd buy it back for down to around $1500, even though we had just bought it for over $2700. I don't think its value would drop that much! And it's basically the same condition as when we got it, minus some extra miles. So we're leaving work a little early to make a trip down to him (surprise!) and see if we can sort out a good price for the car. We're not going to let on we know anything about the dodgy car and see what we can get for it.

Wish us luck!

~Ashla~

EDIT: Just noticed that when tomorrow comes, it'll be two years since I first posted an entry here. Hehe, haven't posted much have I? XD

Okies so seeing as this place needed an update, and I already had this typed up, time to do the lazy copy and paste job! Hehe ^^

WARNING: IMAGE HEAVY

Enjoy the boredom!Collapse )

Sorry that you were probably bored by that, and if you managed to read the whole thing, clap on the back for you! XD We headed off early Sunday morning to catch out 11AM flight and then back to normal routine then.
To there you go! Hope it wasn't too bad, hehe.

Laters!

Okies, could someone explain to me what a meme actually is? I know I should know (since I think I've done a few ^^;) but I don't... Would be grateful!

I'm just after figuring some of the LJ settings too ^^; Hehe. (Well... kind of... *tries to fix the cut that doesn't seem to want to work*) Hmm, it doesn't like me... So I'll just have it as a normal entry ^^ If... someone can give me a tip how to do the LJ cuts I'd be thankful.

Okies, so first this is something I saw in kilik_hiwatari's LJ and thought might be fun ^^

Pick five anime series and then answer the questions.

1. Beyblade
2. Naruto
3. Bleach
4. Yu-Gi-Oh
5. Pokemon

1. Which is your favorite series from your list? And why?
Beyblade, without a doubt. As for why, I get endless hours (days? years?) of enjoyment out of it, whether it is through watching it, reading it, playing it, and so on. Basically, it rules!

2. If you were to pair two characters from 1 and 4, who would they be?
... Oh that's a hard one... Em... Oh, hehe, JoeyXHilary looks interesting ^^;

3. What is one thing you'd like to change about 3's plotline?
Well I've only started watching it (Just got to ep11) so I really don't know it well enough to answer this one ^^

4. If both main characters of 2 and 5 were falling off a cliff, which one would you save?
That's a given! Ash or Naruto? NARUTO! I love the little blond ^^

5. Which event was the most horrible for you in 1?
When it ended...

6. Which is your least favorite character of 2?
Least favourite would be... I guess Orochimaru.

7. If the antagonist of 3 were to rape the main character of 1, what would you do?
... Okay, that's wrong *sees the Hallows as the antagonists* Ewww!

8. What song reminds you of 5?
One of the openings! Well, the 4Kids ones, I liked them.

9. Of 1, 3, and 5, which is the easiest to think about?
1! Beyblade for the win! X3

10. Are the protagonists of 2 and 4 similar?
... They both have blond (or some blond) in their hair?

Hmm, other than that, I don't have much goss. I'm working on the sketches from my last entry and I have all my ideas now just to sketch them properly! I don't want to give you guys rubbish pictures.

The first 10 people to comment on this post get to request a sketch of their choosing from me. In return, they have to post this in their journal

Since I took part in one of these, I shall fulfill my duty and offer 10 sketches to the first ten people to comment! (Though I don't think that many people watch my LJ... Hehe ^^;) I'll sketch out whatever you guys request! And in case people don't know what I draw like, my DA is here: http://ashla.deviantart.com
